Here Comes China!
This whole predictable collapse of GM and the resulting fallout has really become rther fun for me. I feel like I should have a tent at the county fair this year and make predictions.
Today GM announced that they have a potential buyer for Hummer. They have reportedly reached a Memorandum of Understanding with an unnamed company to purchase the brand and keep it alive. The result they claim, is the saving of 3,000 jobs.
I want to say "I told you so" in the worst way. It is my belief that the only think keeping the Chinese from owning GM as a whole is the US government and the unending taxpayer dollars that they are willing to throw into the black hole in Detroit.
It is unfortunate that in the world of political correctness, the US Government is protecting free enterprise from true internationalism by outbidding the competition before the bidding is even opened up. We will never know what the auto market could have become because now you and I and every other taxpayer will be a minority shareholder in a worthless company that will be burdened by unbearable debt and never-ending bureaucracy.
