Hello Again...From Texas!
After a tumultuous and extended absence, here we are again. So many changes and unexpected opportunities, challenges, and blessings have passed since I last posted - it is difficult to know where to begin.
Let's start with the move. This summer brought a new opportunity to the Reynolds family and inspired us to pack up the kids and take a giant leap of faith. We are now living in and enjoying Texas! Located in the suburbs of Austin, I am now Director of Fleet Operations for the Texas Department of Public Safety. Many thanks to all the friends and family that helped make this move possible and the new friends that are making us welcome in our new place. While we still miss many people and the years spent developing great relationships in Wisconsin, it is an exciting time to be part of the historic agency leading law enforcement efforts in the great state of Texas.
The career change has also opened up new opportunities to network with professionals from across the country, and beyond. While attending the Police Fleet Expo in Louisville, KY in August, it was my pleasure to meet many of my counterparts from law enforcement agencies across the land. I look forward to these professional opportunities to learn and to share information that can benefit our men and women serving on the front lines as public servants.
In September I was privileged to join the Michigan State Police at their annual vehicle testing and once again met many dedicated professional working to provide the best possible products for our law enforcement family. This testing was enlightening and informative as it provides an independent third party evaluation of the available vehicles for law enforcement agencies. Knowing the strengths and capabilities of the different vehicles in side-by-side comparisons is a fantastic tool for putting the right tools in the hands of our end users.
Fleet professionals working with law enforcement or commissioned officers working in the fleet management role would benefit from this opportunity to see the vehicles in action, speak with engineers and product development specialists if they have not been there previously. It's also a great opportunity to see the beautiful Midwest in the early stages of autumn, before the winter winds begin to blow.
Again, many thanks to all those that have supported me both professionally and personally as my life has been tossed and turned a bit over the last few years. Special appreciation for Dan Goeden in Milwaukee County, Robin Cappello in TX DOT, and the friends and family at both ends of this move.
