Out of Perspective
Stephon Marbury has decided to extend his fight with the New York Knicks. Why should we care? Because this is indicative of the mentality of far too many Americans. Whether they are sports superstars, Wall Street hot shots, or just citizens living beyond their means. Everyone seems to think that there is some type of entitlement to happiness in this country. There i supposed to be some kind of magic potion in our water with the United States borders that means we deserve everything to be good.
The 2007 US median household incomeis $50,233 according to the US Census Bureau. Marbury has a contract for playing basketball for $21.9 Million per year. This means that he is paid the equivalent of 220 household incomes for playing a game. Now he is pouting and sitting on the bench because he doesn't like the way the management and the coach have treated him.
Grow up you loser! People all over the country are losing their jobs, the economy sucks, and we have to actually work to try and save our homes and feed our kids. Get off your whining litlle rocking horse and put on a uniform and go play the game. It is a game after all. You are paid to entertain, so start entertaining
Another example of completely out of perspective is the poor man who was killed as the WalMart he worked at opened in New York on Friday morning. The absurdity of this amazes me. How do people justify the out of control behavior that tramples a human being to death, over getting into a store for early specials?!?
I want someone to explain to me what is valuable enough in a WalMart that it creates the frenzy justifying stomping the life out of another person. I want someone to give me a logical explanation for Marbury being able to sit on the bench and still collect his $21.9Million. I am all ears.
I say there is an underlying issue with peoples perspective in this country. "Me" overrides everything.
