Hummer Sold to Chinese
Since the bailout of the auto industry was first making headlines, I have stated that I believe one of the primary reasons the government was so adamant to spend billions of dollars on this was to prevent the Chinese from taking over a substantial part of the American automobile industry. China's government would have heavily subsidized their own companies to be able to grab chunks of this country's markets through the bankruptcy liquidations.
Today the Chinese did get one small piece of the pie that they so desperately want. GM has announced that they will sell the Hummer brand to a China firm.
It is very interesting that the Chinese want into our markets in such a desperate way and we recognize that our manufacturers must compete aggressively in their markets in order to survice as well. It appears that no one country is large enough to support the huge burden of the large auto manufacturers. The largest economies of the world must be conquered in order to sell enough vehicles to support the infrastructure required to manufacture automobiles in today's economy.
May the best company....er, government...hmmm -
